get brake lines fr UK used, fix Caliper bolts w/ never seize, safety wire Posted by neil dale [Email] (#2111) [Profile/Gallery] (more from neil dale) on Sat, 5 Aug 2017 15:21:25 In Reply to: Re: Hard brake line to drivers side rear Caliper, HAMERMAN, Thu, 3 Aug 2017 08:06:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I would establish a relationship w/ a breaker(s) (parts recyclers ) in the UK as I have, if the US sources cannot supply parts you need (and the prices are cheaper in the UK too! A LOT cheaper !) of course, you can fab up brake lines too! It used to be done all the time!-Cool the idea using bigger size nuts! a good soak in WD 40 and /or liquid wrench, some HEAT and a really good line wrench, flare nut wrench fr snap on or someone is essential to get those dang fittings loose! IN the UK they are breaking taking apart Heaps of Saab og 9-3 's ! and selling cars SO cheaply ! just a few hundred GB pounds for running cars! the cars are often worth more as parts than as whole cars! EG my bro' told me a guy sold his 9-3 for parts as it needed a clutch ! he could buy another car for less than repairing it ! by the way, I've been researching w/ the DOT regulations and we should be able to import and licence a UK,RHD or other euro LHD Saab w/ little hassle changing only a few things (like headlight s (the glass lenses ), etc. the rules say if the car is substantially similar and built to similar safety standards (it is !) and has same emissions stuff (yup, all there ) it's good . As for the brake calipers, I would disassemble the bolts proactively and I always coat all bolts and nuts to a wipe w/ an acid brush dipped in "Never seize" (then they will Never seize ! ) unless it's a bolt that requires Loctite! sounds like in several of these site's issues owners Should be using never seize to keep bolts fr freezing in place and learning how to do safety wiring (watch some u-tube videos) so they don't come loose! we do it, have done it for years on everything and it is wise and often required for racing and of course, de rigueur for aircraft ! buy some cobalt drill bits, a spool of safety wire, some wire twisting pliers, practice, and have at it! It's easy! Regards, Neil
