BSR or not BSR...that is the question. Posted by Matt Grimes [Email] (#2198) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Matt Grimes) on Sat, 30 Sep 2017 06:58:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a BSR badge on the boot lid of my newly acquired 2002 9-3 Turbo Hatchback. The PO didn't know much about it...was on the car when he bought it. He purchased the car from the estate of a Mr. Geoffry Waters in California (former SaabNet member)back in Dec 2007. PO had kept a copy of the CL listing, which he provided to me along with the maintenance receipts, and the listing does say "This is a high output turbo with BSR PPC performance upgrade".
A Google search on BSR PPC sent me to the BSR website in Sweden where I had a short, but not especially productive, email dialog with their Tech Support. It seems there is a handheld programming device along with software that makes up the PPC package. I of course have neither of those so apparently have no way of ascertaining whether my ECU has been tweaked.
I suppose, had I owned other 9-3s I could tell the difference simply by driving the car but alas, I have not.
My question is simply; How do I know if this upgrade is still installed on the car? If it is installed I certainly don't want to muck it up even if I can't modify the settings. Although, I've only had the car a few days it is a blast to drive. Have been thinking about buying one of those Tech2 clones...would that help me figure it out?
