Hello Matt,
As a quick guess on the AC compressor cutting out I would check to see if power is still being supplied to the compressor. If power is being supplied to the compressor the clutch is failing. Before 1999 there was a temperature switch on the compressor that would go open and you could replace it. From 1999 up it was part of the clutch. This is a very common problem on the 9-3 that I have been repairing since these cars were new.
If there is no power being supplied to the compressor let us know and there is some other checks you can do with out a tech2.
