No comment on the bad ground but when it comes to oil burn, my used 02 Viggen purchased 5 years ago with 80K did burn 1 quart per 1000 miles. The car had a clean sump, despite that it had never been fitted with the PCV#6.
Could never possibly find the cause, as there was no smoke and the car ran great. It has now 130K and the oil burn is now much less than 1 quart per 5000 miles. Possibly dirty rings from a lot of city driving in hot weather according to the previous owner ? I use Shell Rotella T6 full synthetic for diesel engines, drive it hard occasionally. Took a couple long cross country trips. I used to check the oil level at every fueling and carry extra oil in the trunk. Puzzling.
