I've uncovered more clues.
This morning I couldn't start the car again. The new battery was sitting at 11.8V after sitting about 12 hours. I gave it a jump, and the alternator was pumping 14V just fine all the way to work (1 hour, about 45 miles... I know). No stumbles
I disconnected the battery at work. I didn't want to keep discharging a new battery.
On the way home, reconnected and started fine (voltage was fine), but the stumbling was back.
I definitely have a parasitic drain at least sometimes. It seems like it could be any number of things and that I'll have to monitor for 20 minutes after I shut the car off.
I'm not convinced the stumbling is necessarily related.
Spending some time cleaning the engine will probably go a long way. The block and oil pan are a wet mess, so I'm pretty sure I'm losing some that way. I don't get any drips on the ground. I just have to deal with one problem at a time.
