Nope. Sorry, but nope.
Drive a fully "rescued" Viggen and then go drive an E46 330i. Not even in the same class. The only thing the Viggen brings to the table is easy, bolt-on power, where the 330 is more or less stuck at around 240hp... but the E46 manages all its power elegantly, the Viggen struggles even with stock HP. A flexible chassis, crazy steering geometry, and an insane firewall-mounted steering rack plus FWD more or less ensures the Viggen really isn't going anywhere fast... except in a straight line and even that's a little dramatic. If you like driving, want to stay in a Saab and want something newer, I think you'd be much better served putting your money into an SS. I randomly happen to have an SPG, a Viggen, and a 9-3 Aero and it's easy to spot the weak link.
Again, don't get me wrong, in a vacuum the Viggen is fine and I enjoy driving mine (I wouldn't have kept it otherwise!) but it'll never be great. As I mentioned to a friend of mine, the best thing about the Viggen is that it's an effortless cruiser... but that can be said about most every Saab. Except a 1988 900 8-valve with an automatic. Ooof. In terms of being a good driver's car... eeehhhh.
