Thanks for the reply, Neil! I, too, enjoy the fact that I don't see any other Viggens on the road (except my brother's identical car now and again).
I know that lots of sports cars (historically and even now) are open-tops. All I said was that the OG9-3 convertible chassis is not a great starting point for handling. Boxter? Miata? Sure!
I understand the "thrill" of an open vehicle. Someday, I'll own a Saab convertible (I promise). Since I gave up my motorcycle, I've sought my "thrills" on the public roads in terms of cars that bring a smile to my face. The Viggen does that. The driving experience, the look, all of it. I love the car. Even our 9-5 Aero wagon (automatic transmission and all = :o( ) is a blast to have in the family.
I do miss a car that handles properly "well." (I'm seriously not interested in going much faster. I want crisp handling.)
