Thanks Neil, can you give me any tips on trans removal? I had the whole power train out so I regret not doing the trans at that time. Knowing how close it is to get the engine and trans in together it seems getting the two parted and the trans dropped out would be very tight.
Also, how about the matter of proper shiming the trans as part of a rebuild process. I assume bearing replacement would change the shim specs.
Are any special tools needed. I did a Miata trans about 10 years ago in an effort to teach my son mechanics. I had to make a couple of tools for that job to pull bearings off a long shaft.
