What you're describing was a popular Y2K item. I had one in my Suburban, attached to the stock stereo. A small box had a switch to select between two FM stations, and the antenna cable passed through the box.
Remember in 2000 there were no iPhones and iPods did not yet have any sort of wireless capability and factory stereos did not have aux inputs. A 30-pin cable with an FM antenna interface was The Way to connect your iPod to a car stereo.
