FWIW, the problem has been "fixed", but as most things Trionic, it's complicated. The issue was the DIC was NOT adjusting the timing when the pinging occurred during hard acceleration. Octane and DIC swap had no effect. Ran a tank of Techron, and it helped some, but DIC still wasn't adjusting timing. After deep research in the saabnet Performance forum, I found 2 references that changing the CPS would fix it. This makes no sense, as the CPS doesn't directly affect the timing. It just gives the crankshaft position. And I just replaced the CPS with another Bosch OEM, still under warranty. Anyway, I replaced the CPS again, and now the DIC is working properly, adjusting the timing to stop the pinging. I'm running another tankful of Techron to clean system thoroughly, so hopefully there will be no pinging under load. Definitely a temperature/heat issue, as there were NO issues until this summer in the high heat.
While this solution is not definitive, hopefully it will be helpful to others.
