Hurricane Michael dropped a tree on my wife's Lexus SUV. I am looking at replacing that vehicle with either a Range Rover or a Saab. I found a limited edition vehicle for sale at a very good price. I contacted the seller (a reputable stand up person from what I see) agreed on the price with no negotiation (it was that good in my opinion) with a down payment of $2.5K to be made by US Postal money order (my idea)to be sent immediately, fly out, pay the balance in cash, and drive cross country back to North Carolina. He was agreeable to this. So everything was going well until it came time for getting a full name and a statement of intent with the vehicle info. The full name is a requirement for US Postal Money orders. When I pressed for this(mostly because I was running up against a time crunch for getting the money out), it all went sideways. Is there now some scam associated with postal money orders that I am unaware of? I'll be damned if I can figure out what I did wrong here. The seller is, for all intents and purposes, a valuable source of information and rebuilt electronic parts for another automotive community (not Saab) and has received mostly good reviews. Thanks for your thoughts!
