I just realized from this post that the OP was talking about the rack to battery hose, not the battery to pump hose. Some have suggested that it's not possible to install the rack to battery hose with the engine in place, but others have made it happen with a lot of wrangling. I saw instructions/notes once at another 'net site that deals with Saabs, but I don't recall which one.
