Solved clutch problem Posted by Johnhcarter [Email] (#471) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Johnhcarter) on Sat, 10 Nov 2018 14:41:51 In Reply to: Re: Could a transmission problem mimic a clutch problem, dedec, Wed, 7 Nov 2018 14:10:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Upon disassembly found one of the springs in the clutch disk had broken out of the disk and was getting lodged against the pressure plate forks. Was very surprised to see this. I’ve seen the springs be loose but never come out. I appreciate the advice to check on the quality and quantity of the brake fluid. I had changed it about 3 years ago. I did a complete flush with this job. The complete flush took 3 pints. I used Castrol dot 4 upon recommendation of a certified Saab mechanic. It is very helpful that the hydraulic clutch operates off a common reservoir with the brakes. I have a few good used parts if anyone is interested. Only 75,000 miles of use. Pressure plate, slave cylinder, rear engine mount, driver side (transmission) mount, eight flywheel bolts (don’t know if these can be reused). If someone can give me advice on how to post pictures I will do so. Sorry to say I don’t understand the site instructions.
