Thanks for the post. I will certainly take a look at the passenger side mount. Considering the car has about 150k on it and the mount is original, it may be a bit tired.
Just before you posted I was reading about how the tie rod bushings go bad. I ordered a set since they were so inexpensive. This all made me recall that at the beginning of this saga I had the front end up in the air and when I tried shaking the driver's side wheel while grabbing at 9 and 3 o'clock, there seemed to be a minute, minute amount of play that didn't seem to be present on the passenger side. I looked at the tie rod end at the time expecting to find something amiss there, but it was solid when I took the wheel off and did the same movement. Maybe the play is further up the chain at the tie rod bushing. And perhaps that slight movement is enough to make the sound I'm hearing over bumps as the wheel gets knocked around a couple of millimeters?
When I had the front end up on jack stands to do the transmission mount I did try tightening the rear two bolts on the passenger side for the subframe. The jack stands were under the subframe so I would think if they were loose, they would have turned. I set my torque wrench to the specs I found and those 2 bolts were at least at those settings. I didn't do much more because I didn't want to overtorque them.
I just visually looked at the rear stanchion arm bushing where it connects to the subframe and it looked to be in good shape. I don't recall seeing the arm resting on the subframe. The bushing where it connects to the control arm seemed to be in good shape too. I tried jostling the driver side suspension while it was in the air, which didn't seem to have any movement or play. With the car on the ground I can push down on the front radiator support and get the front end moving a bit and still no noise.
Thanks,
Ian
