Hi Eiron,
A few months ago, I had the same problem with the power steering pump from our NG900 MY1997.
As my SAAB dealer parts manager indicated me that the original sealing kits were no longer available, I decided to search for alternatives as only the shaft seal was not doing its task properly. More specific, keeping the power steering fluid inside the pump housing ;)
First thing I did, was searching for a part number on the shaft sealing. Luckely I found a GM part number stamped on this sealing as the power steering pumps from the NG900 and OG 9-3 were made by Saginaw (back those days owned by GM), CB series.
So it was then time for a visit to the local GM dealership. Although the part number from the sealing was not ‘active’ (did not exist) anymore, the local GM parts manager saw that this old part number was recoded a few times in the last two decades. The result: the most actual part number from this shaft sealing is GM 15277770.
As we have three SAABS in the family (next to the NG900 also two OG9-3’s), I thought it would be wise to order a total of four from these shaft sealings. Although, the factory fitted power steering pumps on the NG900 and OG9-3 differ in shape and part numbers, the shaft (size) is for both pump types identical.
I renewed the shaft sealing with the GM 15277770 and also renewed the power steering fluid (one littre of Pentosin CHF11S). The result :), a non leaking power steering system that feels like a new one.
Best regards from Europe,
Dennis
