Received my gasket yesterday..... Not exactly what I was expecting but it will work - I hope.
I was expecting a length of rubber seal with a metal plate on each, each plate equipped with two threaded studs. At least that is what the part looks like in the part diagrams. Sealed in a plastic bag with a SAAB P/N label on the exterior of the bag.
What I received was a long length of coiled rubber gasket, no metal anchoring plates, shipped loose in a small box.
Since it is the rubber gasket that hardens with age, cracks, discolors, becomes set in shape, loses its sealing flexibility, etc., the gasket itself is the most important piece of the assembly shown in the diagrams. Use of PB Blast or Kroil should eliminate the risk of snapping an aged stud.
Yes, replacement gaskets are still available. Shipping is slow from Denmark. Price is high (very high?) for what you will receive
