Installation instructions from the seller Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 12 Aug 2019 16:53:09 In Reply to: Received my gasket yesterday....., MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 6 Aug 2019 03:10:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The following instructions are included on the eBay ad:
"New at Cabrioservice Memelink!
Rubber for your Saab 9.3 Cabrio/Convertible hood/softtop (1998 - 2003). This rubber should be placed at the bottom of the soft top between the top and the car as in the picture.
This Rubber is very exclusive as you can't find it new anywhere else! This rubber is not available anymore at the dealer or aftermarket.
Assembly instruction:
The end parts, fixed with T25 screw left and right, can be used. Glue the new rubber and glue these parts.
Grease the rubber a little with sour-free grease and then only a little push and pull is needed the get the rubber mounted well."
Not completely certain if the existing gasket is glued into the mounting plates, or if it is gripped by metal barbs on the plates which prevent pull-out. Either way, the Seller is acknowledging the item being sold is the GASKET ONLY and that the end mounting plates of my old gasket are to be re-used.
My suspicion is that this same gasket material and cross section is used for other applications (refrigerator door seals perhaps?) and an enterprising Danish Auto Parts Supplier has discovered it.
