At least they're supposed to be serious sports sedans. Now, with Bangles obsession with eyebrows on his cars (Groucho Marx for the 7, Dame Edna for the 5), and his very odd sense of trunk proportions (see 7 and new 6), and his off-the-wall sense o flines and proportions (Z4), the cars are turning cartoonish.
The new 5's headlight design is a total disaster, given that the rest of the car (other than the Hyundai/Peugeot ripoff taillights) is pretty well-sculpted. It makes the car look like a caricature.
The Z4's slice-and-dice lines are incongrous and out of place. The taillights also show his obsession with giving a car human emotions -- the taillights make the rear of the car look like an angry cartoon character. Did you see the NYTimes interview with him? He was literally talking another language, about how the Z4 is the nude draped in the blanket, or something like that.
Bangle is as much a styling disaster for BMW as the fish-eyed Taurus was for Ford.
