I think the WRX is a great deal. But both vehicles are rated at 230HP. They say that people buy HP but drive torque, and I think that's the case here. The Viggen is a way more satisfying daily driver in terms of engine. The WRX does offer quite a bit for fewer dollars. As for the STi, I could never own one. It's too boy racer for me. Plus, they won't even give you test drives (I used to drive by a dealership that had a huge "no test drives" sign on the STi). I test drove the WRX solely because my friend was thinking of buying one (ended up buying a Passat wagon). The WRX is minute. It makes the 9-3 seem big.
Granted, the cost differential is large between a Viggen and a WRX, but I was solely comparing a 230HP engine with a 230 HP engine. Under that comparison, for a daily driver and not on a test track or a windy road, the Viggen is much nicer.
