The safety of your car counts for basically Nil. All that matters is (for liability) how likely people with your car are to hit someone else, and how much damage it will do in the process, or (for comp/coll) how likely people with your car are to damage their own cars, and how much it costs to repair.

The only coverage that is affected by your own car's safety is the medical payments coverage, which in my state (MD) covers $3000 in medical payments for your own or your passengers' injuries in an accident. This coverage costs $21/6 months out of my $1500/6 month policy - negligible.

Think about it - your insurer doesn't care what happens to you - you have health insurance for that. They only care what your car will do to other things and how much it costs to fix it.

The reason Saabs are relatively cheap to insure is that people who drive them tend to be more conservative drivers, and are less likely to get into an accident. Their relatively high cost increases their Comp/Coll premiums, slightly offsetting this benefit.
