"Its not the same engine. Its a new engine that was introduced in 2003 on the SS."

Okay, it's not the exact SAME engine. However, it is an inline-4 cylinder 16-valve turbocharged engine with displacement similar to the 1985 Saab 900 Turbo. Great strides have been made with engine technology since then, but this Saab is still going to be competing with a 6-cylinder in the BMW 3-series wagon.

"The name Sport Hatch was never official, and even the concept pics looked similar to how the final production model will be."

The only reason the name SportHatch had to be dropped from this model was that the name was already taken. The name of the concept that this model was made from was "SportHatch" although it was clearly a wagon.

"Its not called the SportHatch, and Saab is not intending it to be a hatch. The general public (beside you, me and a lot of TSNers) don't want a like my 900 or 9000. The SportWagon is big (look at Mazda, MB, BMW, etc) and thats whats going to sell."

It was going to be called the "SportHatch" until recently when Saab couldn't use that name because it was taken by Vauxhall, I believe. Saab already offers a large "SportWagon" in the form of the 9-5 wagon.

"My only question is what would make people want to buy the SportCombi over the 9-2x? Both are essentially wagons, both are smaller than the 9-5 wagon and both are Saabs. With the SportCombi, you lose AWD and gain a better interior. People that have the 9-2x absolutely adore them. Won't this take away from 9-2X sales (or vice versa) or is the 9-2X going to be cut?"

Agreed. The 9-2X is a very nice car in its own right, but I agree that it seems like Saab will have two models competing with each-other.
