I've been lucky so far with my three Saabs. I just ordered all new emblems for my '97 9000 Aero and all were available. Also just replaced the evap purge valve in my '03 9-5 Aero as well.
I spoke with a guy from Jim Ellis Saab in Atlanta who seemed to be a great resource into parts availability. I had a local body shop call them directly for some pre-'08 9-3SS body parts that reportedly are plentiful. Later cars however are not. Their web site has all the parts "microfiche" up and available or review.
That being said, I had to order a new 9-5 throttle body from the UK last month when mine went south and parts were shut down. I also ordered an OEM spare red DI cassette for my 9000 Aero from the UK, which was actually cheaper than buying it here, even with shipping and tax (customs). Several UK suppliers have told me that UK parts distribution was solved a while back, so if people run into bottlenecks over here, try one of the UK sponsors listed on this site (Neo Brothers, Parts for Saabs).
Rules of thumb....don't lose your keys, don't hit anything, don't let anyone hit your car, and 9-3SS drivers -> keep all liquids away from your ignition switch. :-)
Cheers,
Paul H.
