I always wear demin. I've found the Saab leather to be pretty resilient in my '03 9-5 Aero. I have the vented seats and treat them with conditioner once every 4-6 months. My 9000 Aero's leather is not quite as durable and I'm careful to try and not scratch the left bolster. I had a 2000 9-3 Viggen back in the day, and the leather in that car was very susceptible to wear...almost TOO susceptible.
On the other hand, my '10 BMW 335d has saddle brown leather and is tough, but the blue from the denim ends up on the leather. The bolsters are tough, but the seat bottom has to be cleaned once every 3 months or so to remove the blue stain.
Leather thickness, how it's treated/colored and durability seems to be so variable these days!
