I agree. Our 9-5 came with dunlops on the front + pirelli p6 on the back. Similar tread depth. Had a minor hydroplaning incident where the front came loose. Non issue because the better tires were on the rear - not due to tread depth, but just plain better grip in the design.
I highly recommend getting 4 new tires + rotating regularly. That's what I'm doing this spring. And I'm getting decent tires this time. Neither the P6 nor the Dunlop Signatures seemed any good. If I can get them, will try Nokian V. Had Nokian NRH2's on a c900 + that thing was impossible hydroplane even when the tires went to the junkyard with no tread left!
