Helping the Swedes can probably be used against Obama, as in "he's helping out a competitor to General Motors", a US-based company, for the benefit of a Swedish company.

The only places where this might help would be areas with heavy Swedish population such as Minnesota or the Andersonville neighborhood in Chicago, IL - both already solidly blue states. Not politically expedient.
