Any way to clean an EGR without removal?

I've got a 1991 'Z32' Nissan 300zx. I think my EGR valve I'm sure is full of carbon and making it idle poorly and diminishing performance when the engine is warm.
Normally I would just replace it or take it off and give it a thurough cleaning, but on this car (which must has been assembled by infants) the EGR valve is on the back of the engine underneath the intake plenum and attached with bolts that are too long to remove without hitting the firewall. It's a big nightmare and most people say the only way to fix it is by pulling the engine. YIKES!
My question is: Is there any fuel system treatment, e.g. Techron, or an additive that I can add through a vacuum line to at least make things marginally better?
