I know my '07 XC70 has an Aisin Warner transmission shared with many other brands, in which it has a reputation as a bulletproof unit. The difference is that Volvo doesn't have a recommended fluid maintenance interval - whereas the others do. So the Volvo gets a bad-transmission rep because people run the same fluid out to 200k miles.... mine gets changed periodically.

It's the same 5 sp trans as the 2002+ 9-5.
