Very interesting and charismatic car in itself. Engine is bulletproof, just watch for the timing belt. Transmission swap is well documented, just search and or ask questions on SVX/Subaru-specific forums.
It also might have some value down the road if it is in good condition, as these things are increasingly thin on the ground.
