You have yourself a fine bicycle. Most bike frames are manufactured in Taiwan, it does not matter what brand. It has been that way for decades. Taiwan has the capability to produce some very high quality bicycles. Bike companies will often only produce their very highest end frames domestically, whether it is Trek in the USA, or Bianchi in Italy. All other frames are made overseas. Bianchi USA was most likely responsible for the design, component selection, final assembly, distribution and marketing. I checked out the spec for your 2007 model, and it is a pretty sweet bike.
Cyclo cross bikes are often good fits for recreational riders compared to a true road bike. Cyclo cross bikes typically have more stable handling compared to a true road bike and can accept wider tires more suitable for dirt roads and for a more compliant ride. I think it will be a great bike for you, have fun riding!
