I don't know much about it but- Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Fri, 3 Oct 2014 11:14:13 In Reply to: Natural gas conversion, Kooch, Thu, 2 Oct 2014 18:47:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am very happy with my conversion. I changed from oil heat to gas 3 years ago and saved a ton of money. After looking at the costs of repairing and maintaining the high efficiency units I went with a good quality, low efficency model, 85%. The bottom line for me was the cost of cleaning the high eff unit every year, if this is neglected or done incorrectly the heads(?) winds up rusting out requiring replacement. BIG BUCKS. My unit will run for the next 20 years with little to no maintenance. Also check with your local gas utlity for a good deal on the purchase price. I bought mine there for I think $800, way less than anywhere else.
I also installed a gas fired water heater. Again, low efficiency with no complaints.
I think with the price of oil vs he price of natural gas I may have already paid for the conversion.
