Replaced a conventional 4500 watt electric tank last year. There is an instant $400 rebate through Energize CT. I caught it on sale at lowes for 900. Got the 400 instant rebate and used the 400 federal energy credit. So got it for $100.

Here in CT we pay the 2nd or 3rd highest electric rates. Its around .25-.29 a kwh after all the misc charges.

I have an Efergy electrical energy monitor. I hooked it up to the GE Geospring heat pump hot water tank just to see. Was I amazed. Only pulls around 500-600 watts in heat pump only mode. Total cost around $15 a month. I bet those in other areas with cheaper rates could see this cost cut in half.
