cut off the bad part and join with a new hose with sprayer using a small piece of copper tubing and hose clamps ?
I also have an old 30+ year Delta kitchen faucet with sprayer, probably similar to yours.
I had a similar problem with a 30+ year Delta kitchen faucet with sprayer. It's a bad hose sprayer joint. No matter what replacement sprayer unit I put on, it always leaks at the sprayer joint (sprayer end). So I got a complete hose with sprayer, cut both the new and old hoses at some point, put both ends over a small copper tubing and hose clamped near both ends of overlap area. Make sure the copper tubing and hose clamps are reasonably tight or you have a bigger problem (it happened once 8-)
There is actually a YouTube video showing what one person did.
