This might be of interest to cold climate members:
Recently, I have been vulturing a U Pull 2004 Aero in ~-12C (~10F) weather and have been very impressed by the quality of the plastic in this vintage. I am normally paranoid about handling plastic in sub zero but I have been taking plastic parts apart at these temperatures including full door panels to access parts like the side impact sensors and have been very impressed by the quality of the plastic and amount of plasticizers in the Saab 9-5 parts. In spite of my over-exuberance in the cold and the lack of consequences, parts are not breaking like they should in ultra low temperatures. This has blown my mind. Perhaps Saabs were designed with a higher spec in place due to the climate for which they were designed. Only a guess.
