Frustration with former employer's plan is one plus Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 28 Mar 2016 03:03:16 In Reply to: Re: OT: Where to get info on Separately Managed Accounts?, Gary_g, Sun, 27 Mar 2016 17:55:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My former employer keeps reducing the number of investment options, reducing the breadth of investment options, keeps changing the names of the funds, is eliminating retail funds in favor of institutional funds (no research available to assist with self managing).
I don't see myself challenging the knowledge and expertise of the professional money managers but it sure would be nice if my investment choices included the entire market rather than two dozen funds with no research available.
Additionally, at some point in the future I may not be able to do my own investment selection due to fraility of old age. It will eventually happen to all of us. So relying on professionals with expertise will be the right decision at some time, maybe even now. I just don't want to jump on the wrong train by not recoginizing any/all minuses and caveats.
