...the Tesla gets 65% of its power from fossil fuels. That means 35% does not come from fossil fuels, and the 65% that does comes from cleaner sources (electric generating plants generate much lower emissions per kW than car engines).
And with an electric car, the percentage of power from fossil fuels will likely become lower in the future. I don't see us driving wind- or solar-powered cars any time soon, but (indirectly of course) an electric car can be powered by those sources.
But I will admit that maybe those license plate frames should actually say "Zero emissions... here" ;^)
