I agree on the cost/limited range aspect. Like you, I keep our cars a really long time. That said, part of my attraction to the Model S is that it has a shape that is significantly reminiscent of the 9000. Speaking to a model S owner (and looking over his car in person), it is really pretty appealing. He's had zero issues so far, even driving all winter up here. Main downside is he needs to stop for a cup of coffee halfway to drive 5 hours on the highway. I like to be able to do up to 15hrs in 1 day if need be (typically in 5 hour chunks - easy in a 9-5!), so that wouldn't cut it.

Used to be Chaz has a Tesla roadster, so I am hoping he will chime in re how it has been maintenance-wise and performance-wise. He's a long time SAAB (SPG) guy here.

I really like how the Model 3 looks... except I can't quite get past the lack of the grille in the front... I know that is aesthetics, but aesthetics are part of a car... they could have perhaps shaped things differently or something? it just looks like they forgot to design that part or are just not bothering... heck, why not taper it down to be more aerodynamic even?

Anyway, other than that, it is very reminiscent of SAABs or what I might expect a new SAAB to look like... quite frankly, more so than we got from GM in the latter days! The Model X looks good too (though I don't like the 3rd row so close to the back of the hatch).
