Most ORs use check lists so the odds of something like that happening are very low. Again with someone with a lot of experience in the procedure you need the odds of a negative outcome are greatly reduced. Spend some time with the surgeon and make sure you are comfortable with her or him. Ask a lot of questions. For example of the procedures that they have done what is the percentage of complications. How serious were they. If have the slightest reasonable doubt go to someone else. I did a lot of asking around and research on the internet. Just make sure you use medical sites and not chat rooms.
