I've owned GM products - although several decades back and they were very good cars and I don't hold any animosity regards the Saab deal, in fact believe that GM buying Saab and pumping lots of $$ into allowed Saab to perhaps stay in business longer than otherwise.
As a US taxpayer though I do find it offensive that GM was essentially bailed out in way that ultimately cost $10B to the US treasury while the "new" GMS built it's cash coffers to at one time $20B + , I think since reduced owing to the massive number of recalls. The responsibility for the structuring of the bailout deal probably lies more with US lawmakers, it should have IMO had a provision for total recoup of the "investment" in saving GM.
As MI Roger points out - how is GM repaying the US taxpayer - by moving as much as they can as soon as they can south of the border.
So when it comes to buying another GM product I will let those influenced by their inane ads step up to the plate.
