Astounded that GM would claim their Takata airbags are a better design and therefore should not be subject to an expensive recall. In effect they are now claiming responsibility for the design, meaning they have tossed away all tort limitations available by blaming the defective design on a supplier.
A clever, or possibly over-reaching, attorney could now claim that GM influenced design of all Takata airbags and should bear responsibility for damages regardless of the brand of automobile so equipped.
T make my thoughts more clear, I think it is extremely foolish of GM to make these statements trying to avoid recall costs when they could be opening themselves to far greater product liability claims with these same statements.
