Aren't most alloy wheels painted?
I guess some are anodized...
I think the only damage that will happen is aesthetic. Aluminum oxidizes and looks a little dull, but it's not like steel that rust and flakes. The oxide is a protective coating itself (that's what anodization is - the difference with anodization being that it is a controlled process that gives a nice visual effect, usually with a dye incorporated into the film)...
