Dealing with Progressive Insurance adjuster

My wife's 2005 Volvo V70 was recently rear-ended on the highway (she was stopped as part of a line of stopped cars and the lady who drove into her at highway speed was evidently on her cell phone). There was damage to the rear bumper and, more importantly, the car now shakes hard when driven in reverse. The other driver's insurer has agreed to cover the accident, but they are giving us the runaround on the repairs. We had the car towed to their facility and they at first agreed to fix everything. Now they are saying they are only going to fix the bumper because there is no way the shaking could result from the car being hit because Volvos are so tough. They also say they are not going to check the alignment because the car seems to drive OK.
Am I nuts to fight this?
