Old fashioned chartreuse anti-freeze in '00 Viggen Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 16 Jan 2017 14:30:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I did not do this; but wonder if I should flush it out. I will be doing other coolant system work in a couple months when the car comes out of storage and I have a gallon of the new Mercedes coolant on hand. This is blue tinted G48 formula, just like the original factory fill!
I was thinking of draining out a gallon, replacing it with distilled water, cycle the engine, drain out a gallon, etc. If the initial drain is 50% ethylene glycol, the second would be 25%, third 12-1/2%, fourth ~6%, fifth ~3%. That would require 5 gallons of distilled water, 4 gallons with the sequence of drains and the final gallon to accompany the M-B coolant as final fill.
Or is the old chartreuse formula coolant OK?
Thanks,
