Hi found this on Wikipedia found it interesting! I knew American Motors was ahead of the game in some innovations ! I wondered what year your AM car was? you did not say . All the American cars did used to rust horribly! You did not say where or how badly your car rusted? mayhaps your experience tho real was not typical? if you took a refund, I imagine the rust was not too severe? else I certainly would have required them to fix it( as the warranty promises.) : " In 1980, all American Motors cars received a new rust-proofing process called "Ziebart Factory Rust Protection". This included aluminized trim screws, plastic inner fender liners, galvanized steel in every exterior body panel, and a deep-dip bath in an epoxy-based primer. AMC backed up the rust protection program with a 5-year "No Rust Thru" component to its comprehensive "Buyer Protection Plan" " so apparently AM realized they had a problem and tried to fix it? I'm a writer, always looking for a good story so I put a call to their corporate office to clarify their warranty and some other inquiries I saw this on their website "Kurt Ziebart patented his rust protection process back in 1959 and we’ve been perfecting it ever since. How impressive is this formula? Take a look at this 1965 Ford Mustang.(photo of cherry Mustang ) Looking at this vehicle from the outside, we see no rust on the doors, panels, and fenders. This is because our Genuine Ziebart rust protection formula has been sprayed on the inside of those doors, panels, and fenders. Fighting the effects of road salt and moisture can be harrowing, but thanks to Genuine Ziebart rust protection this Mustang continues to look great after 50+ years of rust protection!" this I expect is typical and consistent w/ my families experience.we wonder if your Saab would still be around, rust free if it had been "ziebarted "? regards, Neil
