The story about Sven all started about two years ago when a costumer asked me if I was interested in his 1997 9000 that was a little tired and since i was a little boy I've always wanted a 9000 when my dad took me for a ride in one. He called it the "rocketship car" and little did I know at the time the car I was going for a ride in was a 94 9000 aero. so naturally I was interested after a brief phone call talking about the car we settled on a price of $500. So in May 2015 I became the proud owner of a 97 9000 aero (stick shift of course) with 255,000 miles on the clock and within 20 minutes of signing the title The car was up on the lift and I started working out first order of business. Clearing the check engine light and fixing the loose steering. A couple tire rods and a purge valve later he was ready to go...... or so I thought six weeks after purchasing Sven unfortunately he needed a new clutch so naturally back up on the left he went new clutch in and a cooling system service later give he was back on the road. Although he was still having some performance problems with only making Base boost (7psi) after weeks and weeks of scratching my head and headaches I could not figure out this boost problem and Sven almost got sold off. Until I joined the wonderful saab community so after finally figuring it out (with some help) I had a faulty control valve. After replacement was when the real fun began. I started with the suspension upgrades such as polyurethane bushings, sway bars, lowering springs and struts were added to solve the soft suspension that was tired and worn out. After suspension mods were added I started chipping away at bodywork, performance and interior. performance mods really don't consistent much other than muffler delete some silicone hoses here in there and a stage 1 MPS tune. The interior was pretty worn out as well after struggling for two years I finally found a set of replacement seats that weren't ripped up unfortunately not in the color I wanted (black) but nevertheless I had the seats but then I wanted to do something different with the interior so I left the factory tan seats in the car and went with a two-tone interior and swap everything out except the seats and carpet for black such as the dashboard, door panels and B pillars. as for bodywork I've been slowly replacing panels here and there adding different things such as clear corner lights, custom painting my grill and fixing rust. (still have a lot more rust to fix) the car will never be 100% completed you'll always be able make it to 95% and that last 5% is in my opinion almost never achievable but after two years of blood sweat and a few tears shed here and there Sven took home people choice. one of the most proudest moments I've had in a really long time but what ultimately has fueled my love and passion to bring this car to an award-winning car all stems back to that one day that my dad took me for a ride in a 1994 Saab 9000 aero and with all of that being said thank you for everybody who helped me along my travels and who voted for my car as well As a very big thank you to my dad for giving me the passion and love I have for these cars I know you're up there smiling down on me.
