You can fit a 5.5 inch wide 15 inch steel wheel with a 175/70-15 tire in the trunk well of a 9000 - that's what I have in my 1994 9000 Aero, and the trunk floor closes completely. No, it's not exactly the same as the standard 205/55-16 Aero tire - it's 1.2% smaller outside diameter - but it is close enough, especially compared to the mini spares.
Perhaps not all run flat tires are bad in the rain, but when I drove my friend's BMW 328i I was terrified, felt like I was on a street made of ball bearings. Yes, these are quite wide, blocky tires, but I urged him to get rid of them. This was accelerated by him ruining one; the replacement costs are ridiculous - almost the same price to get a new set of quality conventional tires vs. one of these BMW-spec run flats (which they wanted to shave to match the others).
