Alert me when someone posts in this thread:

Your initial post did not say you did charging at home. I probably should have assumed this but all dialogue was regarding SuperChargers. Home charging is a HUGE advantage - although installation of a charger can be expensive depending on the capacity of your home's current electrical system. Home charging is also very cheap but I will detail more in another posting.

We live in an area where there are multiple 24 hour gas stations but I know this is not universal for everywhere. Unfortunately, the closest public recharging station for electric vehicles is 15 miles away from our home and there are none on my daily commute. Surprisingly, even though I work at a Nuclear Generating Station for an utility company there are no electric vehicle charging stations at work!

We are empty nesters so the time requirements of family stops on road trips is a distant memory. My wife and I will pack a light lunch to eat while driving on long trip (co-pilot is responsible for making sure driver has no need to hold food between bites or otherwise be distracted by eating!) and we consume minimum beverages enroute so personal comfort stops can be at the same five hour intervals as re-fueling the car.

On the occasions when we need to stop to purchase food as well as fuel, the stops will equal 30 minutes or more which matches the time for a SuperCharger to recharge your car. This 30 minutes seems to be the minimum even for "Fast Food" (which is no longer fast) or food at Toll Road Plazas where food can be purchased by one person while the car is being fueled by the other.
