My '93 9000 Aero was not a clear coat paint. It was cirrus white. I believe that white, black and red 9000s were not clear coat but single stage paints. (And MCY on the 900s and 9-3)
I recall this being in Saab literature (and of course you can tell the difference when waxing and caring for single stage paints... red and blacks in particular come off during buffing when they've been neglected)
Here's one reference indicating which Saab paints were clear coat and which weren't:
