Re: the mats, ours held up and wore well but of course, we are in Arizona and don't have much weather! (350+ days a year of boring sunshine ) Is that a factor? I'd be using those weather tech plastic tray floor mats in the winter if I lived back east, north, northwest! we grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan Car floors can turn into sewers there in the winter ! when I buy a used car fr there the carpet invariably needs replacement always! ( and their cars are rusted as people are too cheap/ lazy to prevent rust! (Ziebart rust proofing works ! ) Also, I bought, from JC Whitney,( yes still in business ! remember them ? ) a package of some foil faced insulation (approx 1/4-3/8 thick foil-faced made of shredded fireproofed blue jeans! (yes really! talk about recycling! these may have been worn at Woodstock! LOL ) Anyway, I put a layer of this on the Back of the mats cut to match the contour about 1-1.5 " from the edge (glue it on the mats w/ some spray contact adhesive). It made the mats more plush feeling and amazingly quieted the interior and decreased vibration (as the engineers would say, NVH ! )and made a noticeable difference in HEAT! which is the enemy here in Arizona! I notice they offer an upgrade, (for additional cost) of the edging is it the edging that deteriorated in your experience ?? perhaps the padding I applied helped wear? I recall the carpet installers at our house mentioning that the better pad we bought really does help w/ carpet wear! -someone could explain why that is so? regards,
