300-400 miles is not bad. That's about 500km. I would typically go about 500km per stop in our 9-5s. They have more range but I don't like using the bottom of a fuel tank since that is where any scuzz ends up - why risk damaging the pump and fuel system just to get a bit more range?
The only thing is, I can fuel up very quickly and hit the road again. I usually don't need much of a break, especially if I am travelling alone. Gas, bathroom, drive (<10 min). If I eat though, that might get me up to 30 min, which would be ok for supercharging. I would probably have to change my habits some to get a full supercharge though. We have family members who like to drive 2-3hrs, stop for coffee and or lunch at a nice coffee shop, walk around, see things... for them, the Tesla recharge times would be 100% perfect.
I don't think it will be too many years before none of this is an issue. If you look back a 10-15 years or so, Tesla was nowhere close to where it is now in terms of usability being comparable to a "normal" car. We've seen huge progress and it is snowballing imho.
