Women's hockey almost always is relatively anti-climatic until that 1 final game which is usually a barn burner... Team USA deserved to win this time, that was clear as they mostly outplayed Canada in both games... and yes a very nice little fake on that penalty shot bought her the space to put it in!
What is more astonishing to me is the men's tournament. In a sense it has been much better balanced between countries where it has been kind of a second tier professional tournament. NHL players would have resulted in higher skill and speed, but more lopsided games. Canada has huge depth in hockey playing in the NHL. Once you go outside of that, the players are more equivalent to players from other places, so it becomes more about coaching, preparation, style of play etc. There's a certain level of intrigue with seeing how the countries do with the constraints given, but personally I like to see the best play the best. Reminds me of soccer in the summer olympics with few if any star players (or variable participation per country in that regard) and numerous powerhouse soccer countries not making it very far.
